The Miles Between

Fun news . . .

This must be a record for me--three posts in one day.  I promise, no more!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.  Now matter how I keep telling them to stop, they just keep coming.  But I guess it is much better than the alternative.  And really (I mean, really) I wouldn't want to get rid of a single one--those are my miles, ya know?  The highs, lows, bumps, wrinkles and sags, I earned 'em every last one.

Now for the news I mentioned this morning . . . there's a book trailer for The Miles Between up on youtube!  I love it!

Check it out and come back and tell me what you think!

Voices . . .

. . . the real kind. (since I tend to muse about the ones in my head)

Last week I was recording some "extra stuff" for the audio version of The Adoration of Jenna Fox, and I had some time to chat with the producer and she told me that the reader who recorded the book was named Jenna. What are the chances?

And after posting about the book trailer last week, I had a lot of people tell me that they thought the voice for Jenna was perfect. I agree. The "voice" was Adriana Stimola. She auditioned for the part and I'm so glad she got it. Besides doing voice overs for various commericals and projects, she's also an awesome singer. She has a myspace where you can check her out. She reminds me a bit of Sarah McLachlan. Stop by and say hi.

Thanks for the cheers on finishing my wip. I love revising--it's like research--you could happily do it forever. But first drafts are murder.

A mixed bag of musings . . .

. . . before I settle down to work.

Today was the first time I have gone out in my yard in weeks. This is unusual for me because I like working in the yard, but I have just been too busy. It seems that spring has sprung. So I went out and fertilized the whole yard--pansies, geraniums, bird of paradise, hydrangea--you name it. The pansies of course are in their full glory already, but a lot of the other flowers need a little blooming nudge.

As I was walking around throwing out the fertilizer, I was dive-bombed. It sounded like a whole squadron around my head instead of just this one tiny bird. Talk about attitude. Seems she had built a nest and preferred me to stay out of her yard. I am sure it won't be long before I see little beaks poking above the rim ala [info]newport2newport but don't expect amazing photos from me like hers.

I love the enormous attitude of these birds. If they had hands they'd be waving them at you or pulling you by the ear.

So most of the day I took care of a few spring chores and also those deadly boring routine ones like grocery shopping. If we could just give up eating . . .

Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday about the book trailer. If I put all your comments together it would be something like Excellent Freaky Shivers. : ) Yeah, me too.

So now I am settling down to do a little writing. It seems like lately my best writing time is in the early evening. Twilight has always been my favorite time of day. What's yours? Twilight always seems quieter, calmer, like you are between acts of a play and can take a little intermission and just take in the whole stage. I'm looking out my window right now doing that. A few long arms of sunset are hitting the houses across the street and not a leaf on a tree is twitching. I love it.

I wish "intermission" could last like, all night long, so I could get this book done. I am close, but impatient.

January Wrap Up . . .

Book News : Awesome reviews for my latest book at Richie’s Picks and at The Reading Zone. Thank you Richie and Sarah!

Tours! I will be going on a prepub tour in March for The Adoration of Jenna Fox! I'll be meeting with librarians, educators, and booksellers in cities to be announced. And later another book tour once the book is published in April. I hope I come to your town. Details to come soon!

Book Trailer! My publisher is in the middle of filming of a trailer for AJF. I’ve read the script and it is perfect–just enough to give you the feel of the book along with some suspense. As soon as I have it–you will too!

The In Group: Jenna is the featured book over at the In Group on myspace. This is a group for teens who want to read books before they are published. Check it out.

Myspace: I’ve done it. I finally joined the myspace crowd. Check it out at www.myspace.com/maryepearson Note the “e” in the middle.

Envy: I popped in and read [info]halseanderson’s and [info]sarazarr’s blogs about the Kindling Words retreat and wishing, wishing, wishing I had gone. Next year, KW or a similar writing retreat is on my list of must do’s, where all you are doing is sharing the art and craft of writing. And yeah, the food didn’t look bad either.

A good cause: A dear friend of mine is doing a wonderful thing with his equally dear son. If you are moved, please support them.

Cheers: To [info]lizgallagher and [info]lisa_schroeder who had their debut books released this month! Hooray! And to [info]gypsyrobin whose second book, LEFTOVERS, was released!
And more cheers to [info]medwriter , and her Edgar nomination for BLOOD BROTHERS! Congratulations!

Work in Progress: In spite of a billion–no, a BILLION--distractions this month, I am seeing the finish line. So, progress has been good. I can't wait to finish this draft, because revision is the part I really love. Back to work . . .
