I learned a new word last night on Jeopardy. VOG. At least it's new to me. It is a twist on the word FOG to describe air that is filled with volcanic ash. So if you were strolling around the islands after an eruption you might tell a friend that it was a voggy day. Don't you love the English language?
Since we don't have volcanoes here in San Diego, that word hasn't come up much. Maybe it has for you Washington/Mount St. Helens folks? But we do have pollen here--especially right now as spring is ready to burst forth. My nose has been itching like crazy the last few days. So I guess here I could say the air is a bit poggy?
The possibilities are endless . . .
And yay, it's the last day of winter! In true form it is a gray and cold day here even though we have been having days of sunshine. It's like winter has to get its last licks in. And maybe it's feeling a bit snubbed. Didn't it get short changed a day this year? I thought spring usually didn't arrive until the 21st. A day early is fine by me. |
